Rules
Central New York Antique Tractor Pulling Alliance Pulling Rules for all Divisions1.All tractors must be naturally aspirated. No turbos or blowers will be allowed, except when offered as original equipment. (Oliver 99 GM, John Deere 435, etc)2.All tractors must be equipped with workable brakes, and positive throttle stops.3.Only standard gas, LP gas, diesel or kerosene will be allowed as fuel. No nitrous or alcohol will be permitted.4.Driver must stay on seat all times. Hands must be on steering wheel, hand clutch, hand brakes or throttle at all times during pull.5.All tractors will be in park or neutral before hooking to sled.6.All pulls must start from a tight hitch - no jerking permitted.7.Any part falling off the tractor after being hooked and until the tractor is unhooked will result in disqualification.8.The tractor must remain within the boundaries of the track during the pull, or disqualification will result.9.The pull is over when forward motion stops.10.The tractor must be stopped immediately upon signal of the flag man.11.If the tractor fails to pull the sled 25 feet, the operator will be allowed to shift gears and restart the sled from the point it stopped at. Operator may not leave the seat unless to restart tractor.12.First puller in each class will be test puller. Test puller may take first pull or may refuse first pull and pull third in class. Decision must be made before unhooking tractor.13.Tractors will be allowed more than one hook per class with a different or operator, but only the first hook will be allowed to place.14.Any tractor or puller found to be unsafe or illegal may be disqualified or barred from hooking. No consumption of alcoholic beverages will be permitted before or during pull.15.All operators under age 18 must have parents permission at sign-up.16.If a tractor is considered illegal to pull in a class by the judge or judge’s it will be the operator and/or owners responsibility to prove otherwise.17.Failure to comply with any judge’s request or instructions will result in an immediate disqualification. The judge’s decision will be FINAL.18.Promoter are not responsible for lost or stolen tools, weights, parts etc. Please mark your stuff and keep an eye on it.19.Maximum speed on the grounds is 10 m.p.h.20.The order of the pull will be determined by registration order unless otherwise announced.21.Drivers must be in line and ready to hook. Any delay in hooking will mean loss of place in line and you will pull at the end of the class.22.The promoters insurance does not cover you, the driver or your crew, or spectators in the pit area. Nor does it cover any substance related accidents or injuries. Our insurance only covers the spectators. You should carry your own risk protection. Our Goal is 100% safety combined with fun. If you cannot adhere to these rules and don’t plan on having fun at this pull, please stay home. These rules are designed for safety and to advance equality within the pulling divisions.Rules for Division AFor tractors Series 1959 and older1.All Division A tractors must have the stock engine, frame, transmission, rear end and axle housings or a manufacture’s replacement. All tractors must have hood and grill in place and have stock appearance as intended by the manufacturer. Stripping the PTO and hydraulics off of the tractor will not be allowed.2.Maximum tire size - 13.6 X 38 tires will be the maximum permitted thru the 0 - 4200# class. 15.5 X 38 or 14.9 X 38 tires will be the maximum permitted from 4201# class thru 6700# class. 18.4 X 38 tires will be the maximum permitted from the 6701# class and up. No altered or radial tires will be allowed. Spade lugged (steel wheeled) tractors are allowed to compete. (National Division 1 Tire Rules maybe adopted for Division A in 1999).3.Rims and Wheels - Tractor must have OEM recommended diameter rims and OEM wheels. Tires must be rim width, not exceeding tire manufacturer’s recommended width. Wheels with rims for manufacturer’s original recommendations to include cut-downs for tractors that may have originally been on steel wheels.4.Speed - low gear not to exceed 2.75 MPH, Not allowed to shift T. A.5.Weights -weights of bolt on type fastened to either the front or back wheels. Wheel weights only, no suitcase weights allowed. Threaded rod or pipe may be used to hang weights, but the end of the rod must not extend more than 13 inches from outside of wheel.6.Engine - stock block, naturally aspirated. Exceptions: Oliver 99GM, etc. Stock head, manifold and carburetor. Manifolds are to be replacement manufacturer’s parts accepted for that make and model tractor. Engine parts not in part's book for that specific tractor cannot be used. Exceptions: distributors can be used. A factory coil must be used. No electronic or enhanced ignitions. Alternators and straight pipes may be used. Block size must be appropriate for tractor model.7.RPM’s - stock engine RPM. 0% allowance for error. All tractors to have positive throttle stops.8.Hitches - maximum height of 16 inches (stationary in all directions) locked at 16 inches on tractors such a IH fast-hitch, Ford 3-point hitch, etc. Hitches must be as from the factory-unaltered for that specific tractor. If tractor is not equipped with a drawbar, a clevis must be used. Operator will not be allowed to hook over wishbone or toolbars.9.Safety - the front wheels of the tractor are not allowed to exceed 16 inches off the ground during a pull. Operator is to provide a linked chain or device attached parallel with the center of the front axle with maximum of 16 inches on the ground. Chain must be dragging at the time tractor is hooked.10.Tractors entered in division A cannot enter Division C or D. Tractors cannot enter classes below its manufactured shipping weight.Rules for Division CFor tractors Series 1959 or older1.All Division C tractors must have stock engine, frame, transmission, rear end and axle housing, or a manufacturer’s replacement. All tractors must have hood and grill in place and have stock appearance as intended by the manufacturer. Stripping the PTO and hydraulics off of the tractor will not be allowed. Larger block sizes compatible for the model tractor are allowed.2.Maximum tire size - 13.6 X 38 tires will be the maximum permitted thru the 4200# class. 15.5 X 38 or 14.9 X 38 tires will be the maximum permitted from 4700# thru 6700# class. 18.4 X 38 tires will be the maximum permitted from 6701# and up. No altered or radial tires will be allowed. No spade lugged (steel wheeled) tractors allowed to compete.3.Speed - 3.5 MPH or first or second gear. No shifting of gears or T.A. will be permitted.4.Weights - Suitcase weights and custom made weight brackets are permitted. All weights must be bolted on or safely secured. Chains or straps may only be used to secure weights to brackets. Weights must not protrude at any point rearward beyond the circumference of the rear tires. Front weights cannot be more than 11 feet from the center of the rear axle to the furthest point forward.5.Engine - Stock heads and their replacements are to remain unchanged in outside appearance. No (7) bolt main blocks in Olivers; no (12) port heads; no (99) heads. AC-WC/WD/WD45 can use D-17 engine; IH-H, 350; M, 450, JD-A/B/G can use power blocks. No M-M (800) heads or blocks. Enhanced electrical systems allowed. Dual exhaust not allowed except after stock manifold. No stroked crankshafts will be allowed.6.Hitches - minimum 18 inches back from the center of the rear axle and 19 inch height to hitch point. All hitches must be stationary in all directions7.RPM’s - RPM’s at high idle must be manufacturer’s recommendation. A 10% margin of error will be permitted. All tractors to have positive throttle stops.8.Safety - Wheelie bars are recommended. Wheelie bars to hold the weight of the tractor in its heaviest weight class. It is recommended that wheelie bars not be attached to the drawbar. Wheelie bars must extend a minimum of 32” behind the center of the rear axle. The pads must not be more than 10” off the ground, must be a minimum 5 inches square, and a minimum of 20” apart. The cross bar on the wheelie bars must not be in contact with hitch chain to the sled (should be below hitch chain to the sled). If wheelie bars are not utilized, the front wheels of the tractor are not allowed to exceed 16 inches off the ground during a pull. Operator is to provide a linked chain or device attached parallel with the center of the front axle with minimum of 16 inches on the ground. Chain must be dragging at the time tractor is hooked.9.Classes - Oliver 88, Farmall M, Massey 44, MM-U, JD-G, Case C/D, JD-A 1940 and newer and like size tractors are not allowed in classes below 5000#. Massey 33, Oliver 77, JD-A 1939 and older and like size tractors are not allowed in classes below 4500#.Rules for Division DFor tractors Series 1959 and older1.All Division D tractors must have stock engine, frame, transmission, rear end, and axle housings, or manufacturer’s replacement. All tractors must have hood and grill in place and have stock appearance as intended by the manufacturer.2.Tires - altered tires will be permitted. No radial tires or spade lugged wheels will be allowed.3.Speed - no speed limit, any gear. No shifting of gears or T.A. will be permitted.4.Weights -suitcase weights and custom made weight brackets are permitted. All weights must be bolted on or safely secured. Chains or straps may only be used to secure weights to brackets. Weights must not protrude rearward at any point beyond the circumference of the rear tires, and cannot be more than 11 feet from the center of the rear axle to the furthest point forward.5.RPM’s - RPM’s at high idle must be manufacturer’s recommendation.
